The Rotunda at NM is a work of art. It is located on the 4th floor under an elegant stained-glass dome. The golden colors of the glass look beautiful with a blue sky background. The restaurant curves around an opening over the store below. The windows below the dome show great views of Union Square (and all the construction at present).
The meal started with the signature popover and strawberry butter. Neiman’s has the market on popovers. I have had them at many store locations and they are consistently crispy on the outside and hot and steamy on the inside. Smeared with a pat of strawberry butter…come ON! So good it deserves two pictures.
I ordered the shrimp and crab Louie salad. The picture says it all. Fresh, bright and full of flavor. A salad is worthless to me unless it is ice cold. This was cold! Fresh crab and succulent shrimp. The avocado was a great addition. Yummy, creamy yolks from the hard-boiled eggs. Chili sauce and horseradish made the dressing oh so zesty!
