Celebrated my mother’s birthday at Kenny’s. I recommend you call for reservations. They book about 3 weeks out for a Friday or Saturday night. We had a reservation and were seated immediately. Our server was jovial and attentive. After our drink orders were taken, we were offered warm popovers with butter. They were cooked to perfection – crispy on the outside and moist and eggy (I made that up) on the inside. It was a great start.  

I had done my research via Zomato and Tripadvisor. I knew I wanted the Coconut Shrimp. They were spectacular. Huge and covered with crispy panko bread crumbs. I should have split them because they could’ve been a meal on their own. As if the shrimp weren’t enough, they came with three stellar sauces. You know I love my condiments. The sweet Thai chile was spot on with a hint of garlic and heat. The orange marmalade was down-home goodness. The wasabi aioli was pungent. Beware! It will clear your sinuses. I am glad I had the other two sauces to lighten the blow.

For my main entree I ordered the U-10 Shrimp. These shrimp were ample and cooked just right. The seasoning was spot on with the smokiness of the bacon and grill. The grits were a great compliment with the roasted corn salsa.

For my side I ordered the Adult Mac N Cheese. Forget what you know about macaroni and cheese. This is not your impotent boxed stuff. This is the home run of macaroni and cheeses. It is made with smoked gouda, ham and truffle oil. You will never be the same.

Kenny’s is a great place for an upscale, quality dinner. Sorry the pics were not the best but the lighting in the restaurant was dark.
