Word on the street is Jarams Donuts has redefined donuts. So camera in hand, I headed over to the the shop. The place is small, bright and clean. They offer a variety of donuts. What I wanted to try was one their famous croissant donuts. Yep, you read that right! A croissant AND a donut in one. Yes, please.

It was a difficult choice. The “normal” donuts looked amazing. Check out the mixed berry and cream cheese and strawberry and cream cheese.

And then there were these savory (and spicy) options.

My favorite donut flavor is lemon. Sadly, they were sold out. I consoled myself with a maple and bacon croissant donut. I know! Poor me. It started with all those layers of sweet goodness. The maple icing was spot on. The bacon was crispy, but not as salty as I would have liked. The outside of the donut was coated in sweet, powdered sugar. It was a tasty mouthful.

I also tried the strawberry and cream cheese croissant donut. Again with the layers! This time glazed with cream cheese and a sprinkle of strawberries. I really loved this combination. It was sweet but the cream cheese helped dial it down to a non-cavity threatening level.

I still have to try that lemon donut.
